All papers should be submitted to dr Hanna Smoleńska, AMS Secretary (hsmolens@pg.gda.pl), who is responsible for further editorial process.
The following resources assist authors in preparing and submitting manuscripts as well as in tracking their status.
[Instruction for Authors]
-
every author receives fast, fair and comprehensive peer-review and publishing service
-
authors from non-English speaking regions, if necessary, receive extra assistance: we improve English language, structure and technical format of their submissions
-
this journal is on the ISI Master Journal List
-
the journal is distributed and marketed by Springer, and has been made available for a few thousand libraries accessing SpringerLink
-
we promote each published paper to hundreds of researchers working in the same field
Submission of a manuscript indicates a tacit understanding that the paper is not actively under consideration for publication with other journals. Once the paper is accepted, authors are assumed to have transferred the copyright of the paper to the publisher, Versita.
After submission authors are asked to email a scanned copy of the signed original to the Managing Editor of the journal.
It is authors responsibility to provide the signed document with all correct data regarding the submission (title, all coauthors names, corresponding author's name). The title of the accepted manuscript needs to correspond with the title shown in the Transfer of Copyright Agreement.
Scope
The Advances in Materials Sciences (AMS) publishes quarterly and is devoted to the publication of research results in all areas of materials engineering.
The primary mission of AMS is to assist Central and Eastern European researchers in communicating their achievements to the global scientific community as well as all scientists working in field of material science independently of the region of the world. The journal is peer-reviewed. The language of the journal is English.
Manuscript submission
Manuscripts preferred for publication in AMS are those which:
-
contain original work- which is not published elsewhere in any medium by the authors or anyone else, and is not under consideration for publication in any other medium. This restriction does not apply to review articles
-
are focused on the core aims and scope of the journal– AMS is a scientific journal publishing research results from all fields of materials science, engineering and technologies
-
are clearly and correctly written- should contain all essential features of a complete scientific paper, should be written in a clear, easy to understand manner, and be readable for a wide audience of material scientists
-
are written in English - should be clearly and grammatically written, in an easily readable style. Attention to detail of the language will avoid severe misunderstandings which might lead to rejection of the paper (Please note that authors who are not native-speakers of English can be provided with help in rewriting their contribution in correct English)
-
are delivered in electronic format
Manuscripts should be submitted in electronic form to Mrs. Hanna Smoleńska (hsmolens@pg.gda.pl); the Editorial Manager, an online submission will be available soon
Peer Review Process
All papers are peer-reviewed by a AMS Scientific Editor and a referee chosen from the International Advisory Board or other invited expert.
Revised manuscript submission
When revision of a manuscript is requested, authors should return the revised version of their manuscript as soon as possible. Prompt action may ensure fast publication if a paper is finally accepted for publication in AMS. If it is the first revision of an article authors need to return their revised manuscript within at least 60 days. If it is the second revision authors need to return their revised manuscript within 14 days. If these deadlines are not met, and no specific arrangements for completion have been made with the Editor, the manuscript will be treated as a new one and will receive a new identification code along with a new registration date.
Final proofreading
Authors will receive a pdf file with the edited version of their manuscript for final proofreading. This is the last opportunity to view an article before its publication on the journal web site. No changes or modifications can be introduced once it is published. Thus authors are requested to check their proof pages carefully against manuscript within 3 working days and prepare a separate document containing all changes that should be introduced. Authors are sometimes asked to provide additional comments and explanations in response to remarks and queries from the language or technical editors.
Payments
In each issue 4 to 6 best papers are published free of charge based on selection on the Editorial Board. Other papers may be accepted provided that authors cover the electronic edition costs of 300 PLN + VAT (100 EURO for foreign authors) for a paper. The fees should be paid to the account: Politechnika Gdańska, Wydział Mechaniczny, Bank Zachodni WBK S.A.
