Authors

Instructions to Authors

1. The journal publishes scientific original and review papers in the following fields: general ecology (autecology, synecology), the organism and its environment, landscape ecology, land systems ecology, water systems ecology, ecological parasitology, anthropogenic impact on the systems, ecosystems modelling, ecosystems preservation. 

2. The journal publishes papers on floral and faunal biocenoses description of new species, however, with the preference of works corresponding to the scope of the journal. Since 1994 the journal also publishes chronicle – information about the maintained dissertations, published works on ecological subjects, conferences, scientific contacts, jubilees, short reports ≈ 2 pages. 

3. Papers are published in English. 

4. The paper should be submitted in two hard copies and a CD version (Microsoft Word, greyscale illustration file formats *.tif, *.jpeg or *.cdr). Manuscripts should be typed Times New Roman font 12-point only, double- spaced on white paper, size A4. The volume of the paper must not exceed 16 computer- typed pages, including figures, graphs and tables. 

5. The text should normally be divided into Abstract, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgements, References (in original language), Summary in Lithuanian (1 page), Tables and Figure Legends. Key words should be indicated after Abstract. The title page should contain (a) the title of the article; (b) the first name, initials of other names, and the last name of each author (no academic degrees); (c) name of department( s) and institution( s) to which the work should be attributed; (d) name, mailing and e-mail address, telephone number of author responsible for correspondence about the manuscript. 

6. Submit each Table headed and on a separate sheet. 

7. Submit two complete sets of figures (one of which must be original) professionally drawn and photographed, preferably sharp, glossy greyscale photographic prints of the ready- forprint size. Diagrams and sketches should be in a state suitable for direct reproduction. When symbols, arrows, numbers or letters are used to identify parts of the illustrations, identify and explain each one clearly in the legend. Each figure should have a label pasted on its back, indicating number of the figure and names of authors. The top should be indicated. The legends should be typed on a separate sheet. 

8. References should be cited in the text in parentheses by designating the names of the authors and the year of publication. References in the list should be numbered alphabetically. Give the title of the paper and publication, volume, etc. For references to manuscripts accepted but not yet published, designate the journal and add (in press). Information from manuscripts submitted but not yet accepted should be cited in the text as (unpublished observations). 

9. The paper should be signed by authors.
